How Are the NEET Cut Offs Being Calculated?
NEET cut-off scores are decided more on the candidate’s percentile scores than merely raw scores. Percentile scores are made to reflect an individual’s performance vis-à-vis other candidates. For instance, you are in the 50th percentile if you scored higher than 50% of the candidates. The NTA uses the following formula:
Rank/Total Candidates x 100 gives the percentile.
It means that even a variation on the decimal of a grade might cause a huge change in the obtained rank. Though the scores needed to obtain that particular percentile may vary from year to year depending upon the total performance of the students, so the cut-off percentile remains constant at, say, 50 for General.
