The MBBS exam scam at Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak University UHSR has become even broader, with students from the following four batches of a private medical college now involved in the scam.
Sources said that during police interrogation, one of the main accused revealed the involvement of students from 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 batches, disclosing a heavy connection to academic fraud.
The MBBS exam scam, which came to light in January, revolved around the trick and interference of answer sheets to secure passing marks in exchange for a heavy sum.
“During police interrogation, the accused admitted that students from the 2020 to 2023 batch were involved in the scam. Deals were struck directly with the students or through middlemen to ensure favourable exam results.”
He informed that six students of the 2020 batch and five students of the 2021 batch students’ supplementary exam answer sheets were rewritten with erasable pens.
These answer sheets were smuggled out on the exam day itself, reworked at the home of a UHSR worker, and secretly afterward to the university.
Additionally, the accused stated that 10 students of the 2021 batch and four students of the 2022 batch paid Rs 2 lakh per subject through a broker via what is referred to as the “direct system,” a process that constitutes manipulation of the prize list shortly before the declaration of results.
The accused also admitted to having affected deals for 34 subjects in the 2021 to 2023 batches, though successful manipulation was seen in only 18 of those subjects.

In yet another case, a 2020 batch student, by all means, cleared a subject by rechecking after paying 2 lakh rupees to a class IVth staff member in the university’s secrecy department.
“Further, the accused also charged 2 lakh rupees each from three students of the 2021 batch and two students of the 2022 batch through fellow students acting as middlemen. All these students were, by all account, passed using the ‘direct system’ method.”
In one particularly bold case, six answer sheets of the same student in 2022 were unauthorized, rewritten, and resubmitted, further revealing the scale of academic corruption.
